Downy Woodpecker

The Downy Woodpecker is another reliable feeder bird. Males have red on the back of their head and females do not. Downy Woodpeckers look quite similar to Hairy Woodpeckers. The Downy is smaller, with a smaller beak, and black markings on the outer white tail feathers.
